7th Annual PMI-IIBA Joint Meeting
Into the Heart of a Project: Driving Project Results Through Engagement
CCRS Category: STRATEGIC
The 2015 CHAOS report states the percentage of successful software development projects is at an abysmally low level of 29%. More disturbing is the fact that this is the same exact percentage from 2004. How can this be? In addition to more and more books, standards and methodologies being introduced each year, the number of professional organizations and certified practitioners has greatly increased. But the project success rate is the same!
What are we missing here? Jon will step away from the project world and discuss what is happening within our organizations. There is an elephant in the room that the project community is not sufficiently addressing: our teams are not engaged to the extent needed for success. Engagement is a major concern across organizations, but efforts to improve staff engagement rates over the same eleven years have been about as successful as efforts to improve project success rates. Is this more than a coincidence?
During this session, Jon will present why we should be concerned with project team engagement levels and will share his ideas as to how we can begin to address this situation.
