A Business Analyst’s Home: IT versus Business

Tuesday, April 3, 2018 -
17:30 to 20:00
$0.00

In November 2012, the Office for Information Technology Services (ITS) was developed to transform IT service delivery. As part of the transformation, hundreds of business analysts who reported to their agency started reporting directly to ITS.

Where should business analysts reside? With the agency or with ITS? This presentation will explore several business analyst organization models that exist in NYS agencies and will focus on the model used by the NYS Workers' Compensation Board (Board). The model implemented at the Board provides a distinction and line between ITS BA functions and the BA functions the agency provides.

Time will be also be permitted for a Q&A on how to develop a BA department within your organization.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn about existing business analyst organization models in NYS agencies
  • Discuss the importance of having business analysts with business knowledge
  • Learn how BA service delivery can be split between ITS and the agencies
