Clear, concise rules and requirements ensure common understanding

It is critical that everyone have the same understanding of the needs of the business and its stakeholders, and they reach that understanding from the documented business rules and requirements. A business analyst's documentation of the project’s rules and requirements is crucial to reaching a common understanding.

Paul Franz delvees into his experiences with business rules and business requirements across many projects, exploring the techniques he used, including utilizing RuleSpeak®, to define and clarify the business rules.

Problems around business rules are inevitable; Paul will walk through the techniques and actions he employed to minimize possible problems.

Learning Objectives:

  • Business rules need to be clear and traceable.
  • Not all business rules can be or should be implemented.
  • Validating clearly worded business rules and business requirements as early as possible with stakeholders is critical.
