Handling Work/Career Stress in Turbulent Times

It is hard enough to work with the pace of change and level of complexity being so high. Add to that serious turbulence and you got a “recipe” for serious stress and significant reduction in high quality productivity.
 
To get through the turbulence and come out stronger on the other side is not easy but it is possible. In this session we talk about why turbulence reduces our ability to make proper decisions and give you ways to fight ingrained biases. From there we will discuss techniques you can use to help work through the turbulence and continue to make decisions, effectively communicate, execute with precision and deal with the stress.

This is a HIGHLY interactive session. We will share stories, discuss scenarios, share tips and provide support. Items to be covered and discussed include:

  • Understanding your emotional response and using emotional intelligence to control your reactions
  • Dealing with cognitive bias like Affective Forecasting, Loss Aversion and confirmation bias; what they are and how the impact your view of the future
  • The fundamentals of Adaptive Leadership and how critical it is to lead and manage in volatility and uncertainty
  • Pragmatic techniques to work successfully during stress and turbulence
  • Learn science based techniques to help “train your brain” to deal with challenges with face in difficult times utilizing your highest level cognition

David Mantica
David has 25 years of business-to-business services, consulting, coaching, and training industry experience in roles from operations, service delivery, marketing, product management and executive management. Just recently he successfully sold his business-to-business training firm having taken it from $1.2m to $13m in seven years all done organically. Currently David is current the VP and General Manager for SoftEd US, a leading provider of transformational training services, working to support companies embrace agile methods for achieving business results.
 
Along with his work at SoftEd, David provides business owner coaching services to several companies in the Raleigh-Durham area through DTM Services. He also provides pro bono career coaching services and presentations to individuals and organizations throughout the US.
