Personal Goals, Are We Doing It Right?

Tuesday, January 17, 2023 -
18:00 to 19:30

Attend either In-Person or Virtually

Webex information will be distributed to those who registered by January 16th 9am.

One of the chapter's greatest benefits is allowing you to build connections with other business analysts. Understandably, this has suffered over the past two years. Our resolution for 2023 is to rebuild the in-person presence for our meetings. Board members will be present at the NYS Forum offices. We hope and encourage many of you to join us! The Forum's office will be open from 5 and food will be available.

Personal Goals: Are We Doing It Right?

In 2002, professors Edwin A. Locke and Gary P. Latham published a summary of their 25 years of research on workers set their goals. While their findings may seem counter-intuitive, they actually make sense. But after 20 years, why haven't we listened?

During this session, Pablo Lopez will lead a facilitated discussion regarding how we can define better goals for ourselves and our organizations. We will be referencing an article from the Harvard Business Review. While not required, please take 10 minutes to review it:

Learning Objectives

  • What are the common methods used to define goals?
  • What are their shortcomings?
  • How can we improve the process for yourselves and our organizations?
