Member at Large

Mary Kurtzner
I am interested in joining the board as the Member at Large for the Albany Chapter of the IIBA to first and foremost keep current on the industry trends in the Business Analyst field, secondarily to meet and engage with fellow business analysts so that I may enhance my knowledge of current practices in the industry.

My background as a BA began at Emblem Health, I had started my career in the health insurance field at GHI/Emblem Health in early 2000 as a claims examiner, I was promoted several times and landed as a Business Analyst. My job primarily entailed supporting the Claims Operations group by performing root cause analysis to effectively provide software upgrades to assist with accurate claims payment. I then worked as a BA in the Vision Insurance field working on process improvement projects. I then took a career turn and held a position as a Manager to a claims processing team in the Life, Disability and Pension field.

I came on board last June (during COVID) with The NYISO as a Product Business Analyst, working with the Settlements team. I work with Laura Gribbon, Liz Keeling, Stacia Wilcox and Pablo Lopez. I really enjoy the work I am doing as an analyst, The PPM process at NYISO is well defined to be successful.

I am also very active in our internal NYISO Business Analyst Working Group, we meet to discuss articles, videos and topics relevant to being a better analyst. I have presented on several occasions to the group in an effort to meet fellow analysts.

I am analytical by nature, always looking for Plan “B” as well as questioning the norm. I would like to join the IIBA to be of service to the community and meet like-minded folks. Please consider me for the Member at Large position so that I may get my feet wet on the board. I am also pursuing my certifications starting with the ECBA, I will be taking the test in the next few months.
