Request to Amend the Albany Chapter Bylaws:

We have been advised by the IIBA that some of our terminology in our bylaws is out of date.  With the Harmonization process that occurred, we no longer have chapter members but instead have chapter affiliates.  The bylaws were reviewed and updated accordingly.  We also are using this opportunity to better align our bylaws with our current practices.

Please direct questions to David Nagy at Chapter.President@albanyny.iiba.org.

Summary of changes:

  • The date of the bylaws is being updated to March 3, 2025.
  • Reviewed use of the term member and membership to ensure it is only referring to IIBA membership.  Where it was found to be referencing the Albany Chapter, the term affiliate was substituted.
  • Details of how voting can be performed has been updated to include balloting of all Albany Chapter affiliates outside of the Annual General Meeting.  This is being done because we typically don't have quorum during our Annual General Meeting and have been using an on-line election service (electionbuddy.com) to ensure everyone is informed and has an opportunity to contribute to the decision.
  • There are specific responsibilities of the Albany Chapter that must be performed.  The Bylaws are being updated to assign responsibility to the President to
    • Report to the IIBA any board membership changes due to election, resignation, and/or removal,
    • Ensure officer roles are appropriately assigned to current board members,
    • Sign the IIBA Chapter Affiliation Agreement and file it with the IIBA, and
    • File the Chapter Bylaws with the IIBA when they have been amended.
